Back at home I found out that Becky had arrived in Thunder Bay and had tried to phone me while I was still in Toronto. I called her from work on Wednesday and we arranged to get together the next night.
After work Dad and attempted to put my new capture card in. We figured out which slot to put it in but then realized that we needed to plug the card into the sound card and couldn't figure out where the spot was that it had to go. While I used a flashlight to try and make out the scribbles of 'code' on the motherboard Dad spent an hour trying to find a 'map' of my motherboard to to try and discern where the this cable was supposed to go.
After an hour and a half of searching the internet my Dad finally found a 'map' and we discovered that both of the port that the cable could be plugged into are already in use by my CD-Rom drive and DVD rom drive.
We put everything back together realizing that this was not going to happen that night. Dad decided to go see his computer friend the next day to see if you could get a splicer to allow all of these cables hooked up.
Thursday night Becky and I went to Fionn McCool's. Her ex-boyfriend Gordon met up with us as well as Jeff. The four of us chatted and caught up on things over drinks and potato wedges.
I gave Becky the scrapbook I had been working on for her for three years! I think she really liked it. It was so nice to see her reaction. Just to see her smile was thanks enough.
When we got back to the apartment she was staying in I saw William, her son. He is SO cute. He had just started walking since they have been here and would walk up and down the hallway of the apartment. I ended up staying there till midnight and went straight home to bed cause I had to work early the next morning.
Last night Becky, Gordon and I went to see Jason at Fionn McCool's. It turned out there was a band playing that night and it was all celtic music. After the first set we were all blown away by them. They were so totally fantastic. They played With or Without you by U2 with a celtic twist and Gordon stopped eating for the whole song because he was so into it. Jason mentioned that the band was selling CDs and I told him I might get one.
So Jason keeps saying..."You gonna go buy a CD." I kept putting him off because I was just kinda shy and didn't really know how to broach the subject. So I just stayed talking to Beck and Gordon. Five minutes later this guy slides into the booth beside me and says "Hi Cindy. We heard that you were interested in buying one of our CDs but that you were too shy to come and talk to us." I immediately start looking around for Jason who is conveniently absent.
It was totally cool though. He sat and talked with us for the rest of his break between the sets. He told us how the band "Dust Rhinos" has been playing for 12 years. They tour in Regina and Thunder Bay. I ended up buying all three of their CDs which totally rock.
We spent the rest of the night tapping our feet as they brought down the house! After the second set I got them to sign my CDs before I left. I told them I'd be sure to come see them the next time they are in town. They are totally amazing and I highly recommend them.
